This new townhouse is located in Westchester Square in the Bronx on a typical 25 by 100 foot city lot. The surrounding area is diverse, with a mixture of detached, semi-detached, attached, and multi-family buildings. The design for this house responds directly to the scale and proportion of the existing block. The street facade features volumes that vary in width, ranging from 20 to 12 feet. The new 25 foot wide townhouse is divided in the middle to appear as two attached houses, integrating seamlessly with the urban fabric. Horizontal articulation further reduces the perceived height, while the interior is organized into two halves in each apartment.
