Upper West Side Duplex
New York, New York, 2005 Credits/DetailsThe project is a partial renovation of a duplex penthouse in the Upper West Side. Celeste Umpierre was the project architect of the original renovation with Lupo Rowen Architects in 1994. The owner's needs changed in ten years which required revisiting some of the areas including the Entry, Dining/Living and Children Rooms. The two existing entries were reversed to respond to the way the owners actually use the apartment. The entry which is closest to the elevator was developed as the main Entry transforming the Guest Room into an extended Foyer. A new glass table was placed in the Dining Room giving the room a sense of openness. A new flat screen TV was mounted on the wall of the Living Room freeing up space for a desk area. New built-in cabinetry was incorporated throughout. The children area was renovated for the first time. The paint colors were changed to a more neutral and peaceful palette. Furnishings by BAM Design.
